Boitjhorisong Resource Centre

Total South Africa's corporate social investment programme is helping to bridge the gap by directing funds to the Boitjhorisong Resource Centre, located in Sasolburg in the Free State. The Boitjhorisong Resource Centre puts focus on interventions in mathematics and physical science in the Free State Metsimaholo Municipality and surrounding towns. The shortage of graduates in mathematics and science is having an adverse effect on business and industry. This has been exacerbated by the shortage of trained and qualified mathematics and science teachers.

With Total South Africa's ongoing support, the centre has become an important community hub, providing essential mathematics, science and technology education learners. The shortage of skilled technical graduates can be addressed and work towards a successful future.

The main beneficiaries in this programme are:

·         Historically disadvantaged schools in the Metsimaholo Municipality

·         Maths, Science and technology teachers in the Free State province

·         Support to the Free State Department of Education
